I put a long message on Friday's comic about keeping Bible verses in context. Probably pretty boring for most, but still might be interesting to some.

Bible verses?
You're missing the point of the story! Razz
Hehe, I think it's all about making a stand and expressing who you are deep inside.

Peaches: No I got the point of the story. Everyone was just talking about Bible verses, so I tossed in my two cents worth. (Adjusted for inflation.)

Trust me; I got the point. Been there for many a year.  :-)

I found it quite interesting Rachel Smile I've always felt it was common sense that some of the obscene restrictions and equally obscene permissions in the Bible, and other religious books, were most likely intended as positive reforms on the even-worse status quo in which they were written. Although as an atheist, I obviously don't believe that they were written *by God*

Very cool, Rachel!  You know your stuff!

I'm not an Atheist, Allie, but I don't blieve they were written by God either. ;') There's a range of opinion on such things in the Abrahamic faiths. I'm more on the loosey-goosey interpretation side of things.

As a Christian myself, I don’t think Christians should argue that the Bible was written by God. It was written by men interpreting historical events through their religious prophets. Treating it as absolute fact, with this in mind, should also technically be considered breaking the First Commandment: “Thou shalt have no other Gods before Me.”

Of course, bringing this up in CCD would probably have gotten me stared at. XD
