Pacce: I got the same impression. Gender fluidity is probably a new concept to her, so maybe she's just getting defensive because she thinks she's being made fun of (and to be fair, the way Irma explained her thought process does seem to imply that Sarah chose to be a girl and used to be a boy), in which case hopefully any misunderstanding can be cleared up quickly without fallings out

I too got the idea that Sarah thinks Irma is making a mockery of something that is very fundamental to her--her identity. It's probably also causing her a bit of self-doubt--if Irma has no definite idea what s/he is, how can Sarah?

omgosh haha! My mum kept telling me Irma was 'just like you' and I thought it funny. But s/he turns out to be gender fluid also?! That's just amazingly cool to me. like "Hey! I'm represented too!"

This concludes my archive binge/catch-up! I'm lacking sleep, having to stay up late to work, but I hope this makes sense: 

I've rewound a bit to say this: I've always liked Irma and it's great seeing them explicitly stated as gender fluid-- not saying they wasn't fine as they were, but it's just good to have representation that isn't mostly context.

As a non-binary person, I appreciate what you've done with Irma/Irving here and in the strips after this- ESPECIALLY addressing that they were accused of "pretending" (which is sadly a common sentiment we [genderqueer people] get from the rest of the MOGAI community, even today). It's not something that gets addressed too much.
