The Princess

To My Beloved Royalty...

OOPS!  I set this to update on the 30th, not the first.  Here we go!

Let's see where the two moms are at, shall we? Things seem to be going..... fine.......?

Maybe not.

Have questions? Please ask me at: https://curiouscat.me/Christatoonist It's just starting up, but is lots of fun.

Blog? Podcast? I do interviews! And kinda gotta get the word out that I'm back, so please help me spread the word! Also, patreon support is super appreciated. Those at the $5 level get the new strips a week in advance. I'm grateful for it all, it really helps me, and it's fun to see what patrons think of it before it drops to the general readership. https://www.patreon.com/theprincess

So, I see that she misgendered Sarah, but does she not like them dating because Sarah is trans, or because they're kids? 'Cause personally, I am totally bothered by children dating, usually.

We'll see.

Second grade for me was after the summer Grease came out, and everyone (of the not-loser kids like me) had a "boyfriend" or a "girlfriend" and they were totally "dating". But not really, of course. They may have talked a bit on the playground, but that was about it.

At least when I was little and where I was, kids would play at dating the same way they may play at any adult activity. but if you play that you're a truck driver, that doesn't mean you're driving a truck. So that's been kindasorta what I've been going for. ALTHOUGH: they do have the beginnings of emotional stirrings, and Sarah does get a bit more into it due to her enjoying feeling the power of femme expression. If it was up to her, she could quite well get in over her head and this may have serious consequences.  On the other hand with "couples" like Marta and Irma, there's not much to it other than the surface level of they like hanging out and playing and the whole 'dating' think is part of that play.

I dunno.... maybe it was me, maybe it was the '70s, but crushes and play like this was a large part of my childhood, whether it was friends crushed on figures like Shawn Cassady (again myself there, aren't I?) or the sort of 'Charlie Brown's Little Red Haired Girl' type of crushes. I know some people are baffled that these kids are acting that way. For me, it was just a part of childhood. You had a "gang", but not a GANG, you built a "fort" but it wasn't an actual military FORT, and you maybe had a "boyfriend" but he wasn't a BOYFRIEND. Is this unusual?

But Sarah being who she is, it may be lucky for her that watchful parental eyes are about.

Ooooh, the look that Wendy gave Susan could freeze the Amazon rain forest. "Him", huh? Nice. I was kind of agreeing with Susan up until then, but now that I think about it, even the "sweet, kind, little pixie" comment came off as condescending. Talk about damning with faint praise.

Strap yourselves in, folks, we're about to see Wendy go nuclear.

The following just occurred to me but since a pixie is close kin to a fairy, might Susan have been making a thinly veiled homophbic/transphobic remark? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I don't think she's being homophobic so much as skirting around saying she doesn't want her son involved that way.

Suppose all we can do is wait to see where it leads.

You're probably right. As I said, I'm probably reading too much into it. If she hadn't misgendered Sarah,,I likely would feel as you do, that's she's merely concerned that the kids are taking things too seriously. But since she did, I think her attitude is based on more than mere concern.

Yeah, even my younger sister dates, I just think it's weird. Not that I didn't feel attraction or get crushes, I just didn't actually do anything. To be fair, I didn't come out to anyone until I was 17, and at 21 I still haven't told more than 3 people.

Hi Christine,
Just a quick note. You may want to reduce the resolution of your image. The size is fine, but the web can only display an image at 72 dpi, so having a higher resolution image (like 300 dpi for printing, for example) just makes the file size larger and it takes a long time to load. When you save your image to png, remember to set the display resolution to 72 dpi. Then your image should be around 180k, instead of over 500k.
