Geez, this kid...she's still not getting it. Sarah's not living as she is to be cool, rebellious, or (to use Molly's favorite word) "progressive." I know I'd be insulted if anyone implied such a thing about me. Molly's hero worship is, to me, similar to continually telling a disabled person how "courageous" or "inspirational" they are. It dehumanizes rather than compliments the person, it's condescending, and it just plain gets old. Something Lucy, I'm sure, will immediately make her aware of. And the "Didja know??" stuff makes me cringe, too. Although I suppose it could be excused somewhat, as she likely realizes Lucy is a relative and probably would know. (Kids tend to ask questions they already know the answers to). |
