Guest post by "Rachel" Oh, yes, I would believe it, because I willed it just as much, and actually tried to force my voice into the lower register. (It was naturally high, and a bit thin thanks to my CP, even after puberty). It's not something I feel comfortable saying to most people in the trans community, because I expect the response, "How can you say you're trans when you actually WANTED a male voice at puberty? You're not one of us! Begone with you, SIR!..." But it makes perfect sense in retrospect. My pre-puberty voice, I thought, made me sound weak to potential bullies--and being disabled, I felt weak and helpless enough.
