Forgiveness isn't the same thing as 'letting down your defenses' nor is it 'refusing to fight back'. It's not even 'turning the other cheek'. Forgiveness isn't laying yourself open to attack, it's clearing yourself of the poison that taints you afterward and the demons that gnaw at your bones from there on in. Leastways, that's how I see it.
