Just further speculation on Molly. I'm wondering if maybe the reason she depicts her self insert in her comic as black (...with lighter colored arms) is because she was adopted/otherwise raised by black parents. I have a black friend who was raised by her white mom, and she occasionally mentions that she didn't 'realize' she was black until she had a talk with her mom about it. I know that we heard Molly's mom earlier, but didn't actually see her. I could see how this may contribute to Molly's thing with social justice. She realizes it's important, but she's too young to really understand these things well so she just ends up acting hurtful and embarrassing.

Probably not the case, but just a bit of speculation on that aspect of things. Really liking this recent story line, by the way! Symbolism through kids stories can be fun to try to interpret.
