Is that just a generic doll Jules is holding in the last panel, or is it supposed to be a particular character? A girl bunny with a little bow, no less--rather unusual for a boy, even in a strip like this where most characters cross gender lines in some way. Now I'm going to go nuts wondering if it has any significance. Thank you for information on Frederick Douglass. Nothing I've read or watched about him ever mentioned that detail. Incidentally, as a ragtime fan I'm biased to be sure, but I do wish one of your characters was interested in Scott Joplin.
