I'm (shudder!) 54, and the strip I'm planning is pretty much the same--a comic my preteen self would have begged to see. Since I want it to reflect my own life (or my life as I would have wished it to be) I thought of making my character disabled and trans, as I am. (As I've probably told you before). Would that be overkill, though? It would have to be at least somewhat relatable.

Your strip certainly helps me--I crave the little-girlhood that I was never allowed. Reading your strip at least helps me imagine what might have been.

I think a trans girl with a disability would be an amazing strip... the big challenge would be to prevent her from becoming a Mary Sue. This is NOT easy, and something I struggle with. It can be done, obviously, but I think a writer needs to keep interrogating their work.
