The Princess

To My Beloved Royalty...

This is the most emotionally trying strip I've ever drawn. I had to take breaks.

The title of the current installment, "Timbuktu," is appropriate, because that's where the strip seems to have gone. Smile

In the immortal words of Britney Spears: "Oops, I did it again."

It should be displaying now.

The really freaky part is recall this is Chuck's narration to Felix.

OK, Christine, that had me tear up.

NO child should ever have to hear the words, "I never wanted you in the first place," or "I wish you were never born." Let me tell you, if I knew a child like that in real life, I'd move heaven and earth to get her out of there and raise her myself.

This is so sad. I'm a children's mental health therapist and this reminds me of far too many of the kids I've known over the years.

*sigh*

A few personal memories attached to this. But we just witnessed a bit of this with some friends. Their son and his wife have a wonderful little boy that neither of them really wants. They sometimes treat him like a piece of property that neither wants the other to have even though neither wants him themselves. Our friends are really torn up and have offered to take the boy, but no... the mom and dad don't want that either. Each have taken a turn at abandoning him with the other parent. (Even though he's a prize that... look, it's REALLY confusing.)

My heart aches for the boy. I hope the parents eventually come to their senses and realize what a beautiful blessing they've been given. I fear that won't happen and the sweet hear he has now will be ruined.

A good - if painful - comic, Christine.

Poor little thing. Even though she's mean spirited, you have to feel for her when her own mom is so horrible.   NO Don't treat your kids like that!

You really touch a nerve, Christine.  Love ya!

(the violin is the right one... but I've got a violin, a guitar, and a pumpkin, so now I'm thinking of smashing pumpkins)

...but it appears that the contact-by-email link isn't working. It appears that The Duck is back on-line, at a new domain (theduckwebcomics.com), and has restored The Princess through #384. Just flagging you on it in case you want to go back to mirroring there.
