She has the unfortunate habit of showing up at precisely the wrong time, doesn't she? And her slavish admiration of Sarah is venturing into the creepy....

Yep. But she's fun to draw. And if you wanna be creeped out, go back and look at what Sarah was wearing when they met: http://the-princess.funonthe.net/index.php?action=comics&cid=397

2 questions.
1: Is it wrong that I want Molly to be killed off violently? I am quite worried she'll hurt Sarah.
2: Have you checked out that patreon.com yet? Is that a viable thing for you?

Christine: OMG, I get it! What's next, T-shirts with her picture on it? Imitation "princess" crowns? I get the feeling this Molly kid is going to be the youngest person on record to get hit with a restraining order.

However, I would like to know what makes this kid tick. Am I to assume that we're going to get into Molly's backstory pretty soon?

I'm guessing she is seeing Sarah as a leader to follow to fight against anything oppressive. While it may seem creepy she has decided to imulate her while adding some of her own style to what she sees. Maybe as a way to help support her? Just my guess for now of course Smile

Hi Smile Long time reader, first time poster.   I don't see Molly doing what she's doing out of maliciousness.  I agree with DJKaiba in that maybe Molly sees Sarah as someone to follow as a good example of what she herself (Molly) would like to be.  Maybe her perception is that Sarah is a self-assured, confident "Go-getter", she doesn't see Sarah is conflicted, hurt, angry or sad.  What better way to gain someone's perceived admirable qualities than to copy them yourself?  Clothes are just an easy start to that.

Weird question:

Does Sarah actually think she's a girl?

It occurred to me that, although she dresses female, calls herself a female, and uses female name and pronouns, she still apparently follows the jewish tradition that men must wear a hat at all times.

It suddenly struck me as quite an oddity that she does.

hey being useful, i dont think its because sarah thinks she's a boy, or doesnt fully ID as female. she doesn't always wear a hat, but she often wears a crown(this comic is called The Princess, and being a Princess is something sarah identifies with VERY heavily)
but if it turns out that sarah is intentionally following the male tradition of keeping her head covered, it may be something of an internalized sense of duty to uphold something she doesnt necessarily agree with or find meaning in.
i grew up in a conservative christian household where girls had to wear dresses and boys had to wear pants. i was socialized as a girl, but identify as male. even after realizing that i dont agree with the traditions or religion of my family, it was hard to break all of the habits that were forced upon me as a toddler.
im not sure that a person who wasn't female/feminine spectrum identified would keep on presenting in a feminine manner when it got them assaulted and bullied, so im pretty sure you're either projecting this knowledge onto sarah(who may not even be aware of jewish traditions. if i remember right the necklace belonged to her grandma?), and she's just wearing cute stuff/her crown, or sarah DOES know about this traditionally masculine practice but only upholds it because its a habit that has been ingrained.

I think the reasons for Sarah preferring to wear hats are quite simple and straightforward:

1. They're part of the ensemble
2. They make her look/feel more feminine. Remember, she has a very stereotypical, even rigid, view of femininity.

The reason Sarah keeps her head covered is quite simple: I like hats. I /love/ them. And Sarah shares my tastes in this because I love to draw them as well. She identifies completely as a girl, so it's not a gender/faith thing, it's a fashion choice. However, I'm quite intrigued by your speculations and perhaps it's something I can work with in the future. I really do need to read about Judiasm....

And, I'm looking at Patreon right now, BeingUseful. I think it's something that may work well for me. Thank you for drawing my attention to it!

Thank you all for your amazing comments. They make my day!
