To My Beloved Royalty...

"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men [sic] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

238 years ago today, a group of idealists signed their name to these words, to declare to a distant king that they would no longer be subject to his rule. Many people will deny its relevance today, due to the tragic failings of many of these men to live up to the lofty ideals they penned. I hold that the ideals put forth in the Declaration of Independence is one of the best documents on the ideals of just governance. I encourage my readers to give it a read on this 238th anniversary of this document's signing. And even if you don't,  know that you, like Irma, have the right to pursue your own happiness whatever anyone else thinks. Just be smart, be safe, and harm none.

A happy Fourth of July to my American friends. =)

To be honest, when I look at this comic... I mean, I get what you're going for, that Irma's a fairly chaotic person who is also genderfluid but... The way you're describing it reminds me of my bipolar disorder and how I(And my sister) just flit from one thing to the next in the middle of a manic phase...

Makes me very uncomfortable to see, and I'm afraid you might be getting the wrong message across by mistake.

I dunno. I have manic states, as well as a host of other issues. I take meds to help control my find flitting from topic to topic at light speed.

....is it bad for Irma to have similar moments? I dunno, I'm pulling it from within me because I can be that way. Is the worry getting that confused with her genderfluidity, which I'm less familiar with?  But if the former is part of many people's experiences, should it them be presented exclusive of gender fluidity? I can't really make a genderfluid character, and say "this character is representative of all genderfluid people" any more than Sarah or Mars represent all transgender people. Irma's attention flits, because that's who she is. She's that way because I'm that way, and all my characters have bits of me within them. I'm confused about what wrong with this portrayal....

At any rate, I will consider these issues carefully.
